SALCOMBE, DEVON

This home on the bank of the Salcombe Estuary required a complete renovation and remodel throughout. We undertook significant internal level changes and structural works to almost every room to create a better flow through the space and to open up the entrance hall into a triple height space. The property was designed and built by its original architect owner and we have sympathetically restored it by taking it back to the  bare structure and rebuilding it to the high standard our clients expect. New aluminium crittall style windows, the impressive entrance door and an oriel window with window seat that floats above the creek, have been designed, reintroduced and installed throughout, to echo the original design which had been replaced with white uPVC by previous owners. We undertook an entire rewire and new plumbing system throughout, and installed a new air source heat pump and heating system with unvented cylinder. We installed a bespoke new kitchen with quartz worktops, boot room and 3 bathrooms, with bespoke items such as vanity units, made to fit where required. The flooring was replaced throughout with engineered wood and tile in high traffic areas and carpet in the upper lounge and bedrooms. We redecorated throughout, made alterations and repairs to the existing internal stone wall and rendered and clad the externals. We fit a bespoke designed staircase, balusters and banisters in the entrance hall. We also installed bespoke designed railings and a new patio that flows from the kitchen out onto the G&T terrace for our wonderful clients to sit and watch the sun set over the creek.

An interesting and quirky aspect of this property was the range of different ceilings that the architect had designed in every room, something our clients were keen to preserve and enhance during the renovations.

“We are working with Kingsmoor Construction on the remodeling of our property in Salcombe. What started as a modest update has grown into a major refurbishment programme with many unexpected challenges along the way. Throughout the project Simon and his team have demonstrated tenacity and flexibility, consistently finding the best solution to every challenge. As clients currently living 200 miles away, we have been thankful for Kingsmoor Construction’s ‘hands on’ approach and continued commitment to what will be a fabulous property.”
